MRCP exam have become globally recognised entry qualification for the membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians in the UK. In 2007, it was one of the only three non-medical qualifications that were taught as part of the UK's Higher Education Qualifications Framework (HEQF). MRCP part 1 & MRCP part 2 exam was set up by the Medical Royal Colleges in 1973 to ensure that only qualified physicians are allowed to work in medicine. It is said to be the most difficult of all three exams taken at the end of the UK medical school period.

The European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Examination or EDAIC is another series of challenging tests that determine an individual's knowledge on anaesthesiology, intensive care, and much more. The EDAIC part 1 & EDAIC part 2 was first introduced by the Clinical Skills Committee of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2009. The EDAIC is required by most European universities to have three years of pre-vocational training before the actual examination is taken.

The Royal College of Surgeons or MRCS is an educational institute that provides courses of surgical education for physicians. The role of the College is to provide a standard of surgical education for those wishing to be surgeons and as such the applicant needs to possess a diploma in medicine (or MBBS). The MRCS exam is recognized by the All India Council of Medical Education (AICME), which governs the education of physicians. There are two parts of the exam, MRCS part A and MRCS part B.
